Evolving from strong, stable roots as a renowned commercial production powerhouse for more than 30 years, LAIKA is also evolving into a revolutionary animated features studio while continuing to assemble a team dedicated to pushing creative and technological boundaries. The first major stop-motion animated feature to be shot in 3D, Coraline will be distributed by Focus Features and released on February 6, 2009. LAIKA/house has had its own evolution, expanding, growing and creating award-winning content for M&M's, Kellogg's Frosted Mini-Wheats, Coca-Cola, ESPN and SOYJOY.
Bluebirds, monsters, creatures...oh my!
We have an exciting array of career and project staff opportunities in our commercial and entertainment divisions. On the entertainment side, our feature development slate includes:
- JACK & BEN: A young bird, desperate to fly solo, and his little brother, determined to tag along, risk their tail-feathers when they skip migration to compete in a cross-continental race.
- Here Be Monsters: A coming-of-age story about a 12-year-old boy who has lived his whole life underground with monsters, but dreams of a life above ground with normal kids.
- Paranorman: Supernaturally gifted Norman finds that talking to ghosts is one thing, but saving the town from a witch's curse and a horde of zombies is something else, especially when you're 11 years old and grounded.
- The Wall and the Wing: Imagine a parallel Manhattan, just the same in every respect except...people can fly. All except for Jane - an orphan. Miserable and bullied, she discovers she does have a very special gift — she can become invisible.
On the LAIKA/house side, the new growth continues to drive the need to hire staff for commercial, long format, series and online projects.
